running to stand still.

And so she woke up
Woke up from where she was
Lying still
Said I gotta do something
About where we're going

What have I done? Why do I have tears running down my cheeks? Dripping down, onto my bare legs?

Step on a steam train
Step out of the driving rain, maybe
Run from the darkness in the night
Singing Ha, Ah La La La De Day
Ah La La La De Day
Ah La La De Day

When I look out onto the grey horizon,  I see nothing. I used to see life. Now? Now all I see is a lone hawk, flying through the night.

Sweet the sin
Bitter taste in my mouth
I see seven towers
But I only see one way out

You got to cry without weeping
Talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice

I hear a voice
‘Come inside, I made tea’

Every time, every night, I have to turn him down, and every night, his eyes go a little wide without dissapointment.

You know I took the poison
From the poison stream
Then I floated out of here
Singing...Ha La La La De Day
Ha La La La De Day
Ha La La De Day

I feel an arm curl around my shoulders, I am comforted.

‘Honey, is something wrong?’

Everythings wrong. Can’t he understand that? Everything is.

Maybe he sees the tears, maybe he feels the shudder of my shoulders, but I am safe, in his arms.

‘Move on darling, move on. And only look back when the view is good’.

Of course he would say that.

She runs through the streets
With her eyes painted red
Under black belly of cloud in the rain
In through a doorway she brings me
White gold and pearls stolen from the sea
She is raging
She is raging
And the storm blows up in her eyes
She will...

‘Be good. Be strong, love’

Suffer the needle chill
She is running to stand

Still.

‘I look next to me, there is no one. I am alone again. But the sky is no longer gray. I have to be strong.

Love.
